Our little girl turned 2 last week. She still has a super sweet side but she now has a sassy 2 year old side. She can be all four seasons in one day.She had some fun with a card board box, now it just sits around empty. Isn't that how it always goes with cardboard stuff? It's awesome, then it gets torn apart and rained on, then you don't know how to get rid of it.
This is her 2nd white birthday cake in 2 years, I think that is more coincidence than anything. It was yummy but disappeared one night, not sure if we had cake burglers or if Joni chucked it in the garbage...that usually happens when we have too many sweets in the house.Lots of pink to go around
All the girls went up to Tahoe for a walk
Speaking of cakes...Joni made a couple more to make for a very stressful weekend. This one was for some random lady she knows at the gym. She wanted a simple cake for her wedding, and she requested brown with leopard print and stick figures...this is what Joni came up with.
Ellie enjoyed going to another kid's party and got to play with some kids her age for once. We always thought we would have the kid that is sweet or would be bullied but she IS the bully. Just when we thought we were good parents, we have other parents getting mad at us when Ellie hits or doesn't want to share. I don't know what happened or what we can do, but it's frustrating and sad. Neither of us know what to do or if there is anything we can do right now other than let her be 2.It doesn't always feel like we know what we are doing. I don't know a lot of parents who do know what they are doing, I guess it could be a lot worse for her but it has been humbling to have a two year old. I have never had more fun with her one on one, but when we leave the house the beast is released.
The second cake Joni made was one of her best yet in my mind. It was a Cars cake for her friend's little boy. She even made little tires, signs and wavy flags out of fondant, it ended up being a hit with all the men for some reason. Funny to see 8 grown men standing around a cake and talking about it for 15 mintues..."Do you see them tires?...That there should be on one of them cake shows on TV..."Thank you all for the calls and presents. Ellie loved everything she got and feels very loved.

She's hit the "Terrible Twos" haha She is so cute and the cake is gorgeous! How muvh did it cost?
First of all, the cakes are absolutely, fantastically, incredibly wonderful! So creative and unique. Awesome, Joni!
Second, Ellie is great, and what you describe is about as typical as any two-year-old could be. Just walk into any Church nursery, and you'll see "bullies" and "cryers" and the whole gamut - -depending on the day - - -and maybe the weather!! She's so fun and cute. And she's NOT a bully. She's right now an only child who hasn't had the experience of "give and take." Two is a fun - - and frustrating age for both child and parents. Just love her and keep teaching her. You're all doing great!
Love you all.

P. S. Thanks for all the adorable pictures of that little two-year-old. I love her!

Fabulous cakes, Joni, as always! Ellie is so cute and hopefully she will just grow out of this phase quickly. Don't worry too much about it! You are awesome parents and she's an awesome 2 year old!!
It seems like we have a bunch of nearly two year olds in the family right now that do the same things that Ellie does. I smile and emphathize with you young parents dealing with their snotty ways. I'm so proud of the way you love her and play with her. She's totally adorable 1-1. The social relationships get better and she will gradually enter into a more reasonable stage in a year or so. Then she'll be a teenager and the struggles start all over again.
Good job on those cakes Joni. It looked like you had fun celebrating Ellie's birthday. A walk at Lake Tahoe sounds great. I'd like to cruise bike there sometime, maybe next spring.

Those cakes are amazing! Can you send one express for Cecily's birthday? (Not really). Well, as a nursery leader sweetly said with an edge to her voice about one of our kids "Ellie is one of Heavenly Father's STRONG spirits that he has saved for the last days". That will be in her favor in the future as you get her to turn from the dark side of the two year old force. Happy Birthday and wow does that pink cake have some layers! I love the banner too. Thanks for the pictures!
Love,

Guys and cars - that's so funny how into it they got - I love it!

Love this little blue eyed girl! Look how long her hair is getting. It doesn't seem fair.....my kids get the mad looking mullet (hair doesn't grown on the sides) until they are almost 2.
Happy birthday big 2 year old! I love the picture with Andrea where she is making the funny face.
And your cakes, why can't you live here NOW? My kids need some fun birthday cakes to remember their birthdays for. Those are so awesome. So many talents you have, so many!
